LIMA, OHIO -
One blood-sucking pest loves the drought conditions across the Midwest.
The Allen county Health Department has had several residents call in complaining about ticks and there has been one Lyme Disease case reported so far.
The Ohio Department of Health doesn't test ticks for Lyme Disease or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.
So local officials say the best idea is to protect yourself and keep a keen eye out for ticks.
If you have a tick that has latched on to you, never squeeze it or try to burn it off.
You can use tweezers to gently pull it off by the nose. Make sure you then clean the area carefully and continue to watch for any problems like rashes or fever.
