Putnam County -
When it comes to wild weather, Putnam County is typically dealing with the issue of flooding.
But now, as part of the storm cleanup, the county has to take care of dozens of trees that have fallen down across the Blanchard River.
County crews just finished up an extensive tree and branch removal along the river in the spring but now are faced with an even bigger effort this time around.
The issue was a hot topic at the monthly Blanchard River Mitigation meeting, and all agreed the project needed to be done sooner than later.
It cost around eighteen thousand dollars to clean up about seven miles of the river in the spring. It's expected this round could easily double that amount. The county is looking into a grant through the Department of Labor to help out.
