Unpaid child support is on the rise statewide, and here in Allen County.
Between 2008 and 2011, Child Enforcement Agency Officials say collections were down about 3 million dollars. Over the course of those years, the agency has taken many state and federal budget cuts which in turn have led to a decrease in staff size. That means a small amount on people are taking on a heavier work load, even though case size has stayed pretty consistent over the past five years.
The total unpaid amount owed to the state increased from $246 million in 2008 to $330 million in 2011.
