A sentence today for a man convicted of passing bogus checks in several counties.
Allen County Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey Reed sentenced 27 year old Anthony Whitt to a total of one year behind bars on two plea negotiated forgery counts.
He will also pay back a couple hundred dollars in restitution to the South Main Street speedway in Delphos and the Shell Gas Station in Spencerville.
Whitt admitted to passing a bad check at each gas station. He says he got the counterfeit checks from another man who used a bleaching technique to turn one and five dollar bills into hundreds.
Whitt's latest sentence will be added on to the two years he received for a similar charge in Auglaize County.
He's also awaiting court time after being convicted for passing bad checks in Van Wert County.
Whitt blames a drug habit for the crimes.
