Success at Ridgeview Psychiatric Hospital

Once the Van Wert County Home, the facility has since been closed and reopened as the new Ridgeview Psychiatric Hospital. Taking its first patients in May, the hospital is fully operational, but choosing to take things slow.

Recently receiving accreditation from the Joint Commission, Ridgeview is now a certified hospital, licensed to fill 20 beds. Following the success of the psychiatric hospital in Cambridge, Ohio, Director Randall LaFond said the decision to start up a hospital in Van Wert was perfect, as the area is in great need of a multipurpose facility.

When the county home closed down years ago, many people were forced to find other jobs. By opening the Ridgeview facility in Van Wert, up to 50 people will now have work.

As more patients are admitted to the psychiatric hospital, Director LaFond says the facility has an additional 20 rooms, allowing for an expansion in the program.
