St. Marys, Ohio -
A tentative agreement is struck between union officials and Veyance Technologies in an effort to avoid a strike.
A contract for more than 1,000 unionized Veyance employees across four locations ran out on July 31st. The company has about 350 members of the United Steelworkers at their St. Marys location. Union members voted to authorize a strike if a deal could not be reached.
So far, employees are working under an expired contract. The tentative deal would run through July of 2016. According to union official, Bob Gillis, the St. Marys group is expected to discuss the proposed contract and vote on August 12th. The company also has plants in Marysville, Wisconsin, and Nebraska.
Veyance Technologies is a spin-off of Goodyear's engineered products division.
