Petition drive underway to dissolve Ft. Shawnee

A petition drive to allow Fort Shawnee voters to decide whether to remain incorporated or not is underway.

A table was set up at Village Cafe on S. Dixie Highway and at this location on Shawnee and Fort Amanda Rds. today.

The group wants to get the issue on the November ballot.

Many are not happy with how the village has been run in recent years.

Organizers say they are close to getting the needed number of signatures.

Petitions will be available to sign until eight tonight (8/4) at the old Daves Market parking lot near the Chase bank at Fort Amanda and Shawnee road and at the Village Cafe on South Dixie highway.
