Square Fair ends on wet note

Posted: Updated:

First one shower came through, then the threat of another which caused the entertainment at this year's square fair to come to an abrupt end.

Square Fair officials were concerned about the safety of not only the performers and technicians but also the audience members, giving them a 45 minute head start before a second line of storms was scheduled to hit Lima.

Square Fair president Dennis Baker said this years festival went fairly smooth, despite the weather on Saturday and the threat of Friday night's act, Crystal Bowersox to cancel.

Baker told Your News Now that there was a concern that arose mid-week by Bowersox's management company about the safety of the stage. They wanted to cancel her appearance in Lima until Baker pulled out the contract and made them abide by what they signed.

Her appearance went off without a hitch on Friday night.

This is Baker's first and last Square Fair as president. He's stepping aside to do what he does best and that's book the entertainment for the festival.

No word yet on who will replace him.
