Fort Shawnee, Ohio -
A crowded council meeting at Fort Shawnee Monday night, with more than 50 residents attending. The big question swirling, "What is happening with the petition to dissolve the Fort into Shawnee Township?"
Minutes before the start of council, Craig Bradford, a member of the petition committee, delivered a box to Council President Doug Harris. In that box, more than 600 signed petitions.
Following legal procedure, Bradford was forced to submit the petitions to the legislative body of the village (city council), but did so before the meeting because he feared that council wouldn't allow him to turn them in while in session.
Council President Doug Harris had little to say about the petitions, only saying that the council will do their job and get the petitions in.
The next step for Harris and council is to turn the petitions into the Allen County Board of Elections, who will validate that each of the signatures come for Fort Shawnee registered voters.
