VAN WERT, OHIO -
An anonymous tip is given in a mysterious Van Wert County kidnapping case, and now officials are offering money for more tips.
Additional information is being sought in the March 18th home invasion and kidnapping of Daniel Hemker. According to the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office, Hemker was awaken in his Dog Creek Road home shortly after midnight on March 18th. Hemker was apparently kidnapped, tied up, and taken in his car to the quarry where it was submerged.
Hemker was able to break the rear window and escape. Van Wert County Sheriff, Stan Owens, says an anonymous letter was mailed the Allen County Justice Center concerning the case. Detectives would like to speak to the person who wrote the letter. Along with more information about the letter, detectives are also seeking more information on the case in general.
A $5,000 reward is now being offered for tips that lead to a conviction in the case. Tips can be called in to the Van Wert County Sheriff's Office at 419-238-3866.
