Wapakoneta, Ohio -
The Auglaize County Coroner is being investigated after a complaint was filed against him.
Wapakoneta police have confirmed that a complaint was received against Dr. Tom Freytag, and that the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI&I) has taken on the case.
A Wapakoneta woman filed the complaint with the police department during the month of June, and the BCI & I took on the case by the end of June.
Because Dr. Freytag serves as the Auglaize County Coroner, Police Chief Russ Hunlock felt the need to pass the complaint on to the BCI & I.
According to their spokes person, they could not say if the complaint is connected with Freytag's medical practice, or with his position as coroner. The exact nature of the investigation has not been released.
If agents find anything during the investigation, they will turn the information over to the Auglaize County Prosecutors office to see if any charges need to be filed. The timeline for the investigation is unknown.
