Allen County -
The Allen County fair was more about just food and fun today.
Allen East Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) put on a very serious skit out at the grandstand. Their mime adaptation of the nursery rhyme "Jack and Jill" showed the consequences of driving while impaired.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), local law enforcement and even a funeral director were all there to share their stories about lives lost because victims didn't have a designated driver.
Organizer Evelyn Smith is pleased about the community agencies able to help out, and says their testimonies help people better understand the risks of drunk driving.
The event was organized by the Lima-Allen County Regional Planning Commission and the Lima Allen County Safe Communities Coalition. After the skit, officers reminded people from now on through Labor Day, they will be out in full force enforcing impaired driving laws.
