Honoring Hometown Heroes was the goal of an event Sunday hosted by Operation Freedom Support and the St. Henry American Legion post 648.
A Cincinnati area man was there to help honor his son and other hometown heroes.
Keith Maupin is on a mission. his son, Matt was captured in Iraq in 2004 and held captive.
It took four years before he was declared dead, despite numerous attempts by Maupin's family to find out his fate.
Maupin says he's honored that his son is being remembered but notes there are other heroes out there too that we should remember.
The four years Matt was missing were difficult ones for the Maupin family as they continued to hold out hope he was still alive.
Maupin says the troops still need our support despite what you might think about their mission.
