This Labor Day felt a bit different locally because one of the unions participating in the Labor Day parade is on strike.
United Steelworkers Local 624 had a large contingent of its workers in the parade who have been on the picket lines since late May.
That's more than a hundred days and counting.
If you listen to both the union and Husky Energy the two sides don't sound any closer to reaching an agreement than they did on May 25th.
Asked if he was optimistic about Tuesday's bargaining session, Local 624 President Mike Edelbrock says it's better than not having a meeting. And he hopes the company has an offer to present to them.
He is just discouraged that the strike has lasted this long.
Will Tuesday's talks make any progress? Husky spokesman Adam Sparkes responded to the union's comments Monday by saying Husky wants our full team back to work as soon as possible, remaining committed to reaching a deal that fairly compensates our employees.
