Thursday was a dream come true for Jill Crew and Michelle Melincoff as they got to take their first ride in a hot air balloon. The Van Wert airport invited disabled adults to take a free ride in a hot air balloon. Both Jill and Michelle work at the Thomas Edison center in Van Wert and have been looking forward to this ride for weeks.
Polly Sims said, "It means that even though there handicapped people they get join in and have a day on there own."
Charles Sica is one of the balloon pilots at the hot air festival. His daughter, who was handicapped Passed away two years ago. Sica, says, "For Van Wert airport to have a special day like this is amazing."
Event organizer Jerry Mazur was very happy the winds laid and they were able to get everyone up in a balloon.
