Lima Ohio -
Like most cities its size or larger, Lima has a problem with bikes ending up stolen.
And should the stolen bike turn up, in most cases, it's next to impossible to match up the bicycle with its owner.
That's why the Lima Police Department is teaming up with a New York based group called Bike Guard to get bicycles registered.
Bike guard is staffed by bicycle enthusiasts trying to help prevent bike thefts across the country.
Officers are excited about the partnership because right now, most of the bikes they recover remain unclaimed.
Major Tony Swygart says of the one hundred or so bikes they've recovered this year, only about eleven have been returned to their owners.
