Fort Recovery, Ohio -
Mercer County Sheriff's deputies find up to 200 dogs at a property in Fort Recovery.
The department executed a search warrant at 972 State Route 49 during an investigation of the condition of animals on the property. Deputies found between 150 and 200 dogs in several buildings including the main house, out buildings, and campers on the property.
Nineteen dogs were removed on Wednesday including seven young puppies and their mother. Eight of the dogs taken were found to be terminally ill and euthanized by a veterinarian. The remaining three dogs are in poor condition.
Chief Deputy Gery Thobe would not release the names of the people being investigated. However, according to the Mercer County auditor's website, the property is owned by Robert Briner.
Deputies anticipate filing charges in an attempt to control the number of dogs on the property. The animal hoarding investigation is ongoing.
