The Auglaize County Courthouse is reopening after being closed for nearly two years because of renovations.
Auglaize County Commissioner Doug Spencer says this project was a decade in the making, and it's exciting to see something come together after such a long time. Residents are invited to tour the courthouse on Sunday, and Spencer says people will be surprised by the amount of history maintained in the building. Spencer says the courthouse is a combination of old and new.
Although the 118-year-old building was a sound structure. It needed plumbing and electrical repairs. Spencer says when people walk in on Sunday, They'll get a 19th century feeling even though the building is equipped with technology for the future. Spencer invites everyone, even if you're not an Auglaize resident, to come and check out the courthouse. He says parking is limited, but that shouldn't stop folks from coming out.
The courthouse rededication ceremony is scheduled at 2:30 PM on Sunday. The open house will take place right after at 3:30.
