
Concussions continue to be a problem for many athletes, including high school students playing football, soccer and hockey. With fall sports in full swing for many schools, athletic trainers stand on the sidelines at each game, ready to run on the field to the side of a fallen player.
Over the years, helmets have improved drastically, helping to protect the players wearing them. However, players have started over estimating the effectiveness of the helmets, leading to injuries.
With all head injuries, rest is key to a full recovery, but when rehabilitation is rushed, additional injuries become more severe.
