A downtown building goes up in flames, threatening nearby businesses, including an auto shop and Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
Firefighters got the call to Central and Market Streets at about 8:15 PM, Monday evening. There were immediate concerns over the potential for hazardous materials being present in the apparently abandoned buildings, and crews had to be concerned about walls collapsing.
There is no knowledge of anyone being the buildings, or any reports of injuries. If you need to drive through downtown Lima, you may want to avoid this area, as part of Market, Central, and other downtown streets may be closed down by this fire.
