Lima Ohio -
Monday's fire is a devastating loss to an already struggling downtown, but Lima's downtown business association (Downtown Lima Inc.) says the future is promising.
Vacant lots now litter downtown Lima, following the closure of rundown buildings and several area fires. One fire that many people may still remember, is the blaze that claimed the Main Street Bistro. Monday night's fire is yet another sad moment for Lima's downtown, but the hope is owner's Tony and Loren Collins will rebuild.
Lima is not alone in their struggles, as other area downtown's have also taken a hit. New Bremen lost a restaurant and barbershop to a fire, and Ada lost their historic Methodist Church.
With many of these businesses rebuilding, the hope is Lima will soon see an improvement. Even with the recent loss to downtown, the future is promising.
While Monday night's fire eventually led to demolition, Aubree Kaye says its important to remain optimistic.
