Lady Finger Pond in Faurot Park is getting a long over due deep clean.
Sediment from leaves disintegrating made the pond unsanitary for fish and visitors. The pond has been around for about 70 years and there are no records of it ever being cleaned. Once the pond was drained, they expected to find only 3 to 4 feet of sediment but ended up finding much more.
Cleaning should be done by the end of this week, but they are planning on creating additional changes to the layout of the pond. It will re-open sometime in 2013.
