A woman convicted of milking tax payers, Nekosha James-Mitchell, was sentenced to 4 years in prison Monday and ordered to pay more than 50-thousand dollars in restitution.
James-Mitchell was found guilty of a daycare fraud scheme, which cost taxpayers more than 170 thousand -dollars a year. Before sentencing James-Mitchell asked Judge Jeffery Reed for mercy. She told the court that she was misrepresented by her previous attorney. Judge Reed said that he did not hear any remorse from James-Mitchell. He also said the evidence shows what she did, and there was no excuse for her crime.
James-Mitchell does have the option to appeal the sentence after serving six months of prison time.
