As the Husky Energy strike moves into its fifth month, nothing new from the company on Wednesday, as the union debates its next move.
United Steelworkers Local 624 President Mike Edelbrock confirmed that 3 more workers have crossed the picket line and left the union. That brings the total number of workers who have crossed the line to 21.
240 workers went on strike on May 25th. Edelbrock says they have offered to meet with Husky Thursday and Friday, but have heard nothing from the company. He says even though they don't believe they are at an impasse as the company announced Monday, they have consulted with their labor attorney about what that means.
Union members were informed of the latest news at an informational meeting today. Union workers on Sunday overwhelmingly voted down what Husky called their final contract offer. The company saying they are moving forward with evaluating their long term plans for the Lima refinery.
