Eat it while you can. Bacon prices are going to go up sometime in 2013. Small business owner of Lulu's Diner, Amy Musil says she is already worried about the increase.
Temperatures this summer drove up the cost of corn, which is a main source of feed for pigs. Farmers are sending their pigs to slaughter because they can't afford to feed them. Mike Schumm is a seventh generation farmer. His wife also manages a contract factory, and says the money wont flow in for his family if pigs cannot be feed.
Even though Schumm is worried about money flow this year, he's hopeful next year will being better temperatures for more bacon.
