With more casinos and racinos set to open in Ohio by next year, the Ohio Department of Alcohol & Drug Addiction Services has released a study on gambling. It finds more than 250 thousand Ohioans, or just under three percent of the adult population, have a gambling problem. With four casinos now open, and the casino in Columbus opening next week, some people are concerned about addiction.
Although the number of gambling addicts has not seen an increase locally, preventative measures are being put into place.
According to the study, Hamilton County has the most problem gamblers due to its proximity to casinos in southern Indiana, but Northeast Ohio's Cuyahoga County has the most gamblers in general.
