The Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual "Meet the Candidates" luncheon at the Wapakoneta VFW.
The candidates spoke about local issues on the ballot this November.
Tony Burkley and Pete Schlegel are running against each other for state representative in the newly formed 82nd district.
Tony Berkley - "I think the state in the position it's in will require someone with experience as a state representative. Being a county commissioner for 16 years in Paulding County has prepared me for the challenges that face Ohio."
Pete Schlegel - "I am running as an independent candidate so it's really what the people want of this district, not necessarily what a specific political party or even a special interest group, frankly sometimes not even what I may want. It's really what the citizens of the 82nd district will want. "
Also in attendance was Ann Jacobs who is running for re-election for the State Board of Education for district one
Ann Jacobs - "I think that the students of Ohio need a voice and I think that I have been a voice. I would invite anyone to look at my voting record, to talk to me, to call me, to ask me how I stand on issues, and I think that speaks for itself." She believes she can continue to make a difference for the schools there.
Jacob's is running against Stanley Jackson who was not present at the luncheon. He currently is an appointed member of the board.
