Husky, Union Talk Again, Many Issues Remain

Posted: Updated:

No rest for the weary as Husky Energy and United Steelworkers negotiators were back at the table talking contract first thing Tuesday morning.

That after a marathon session Tuesday resulted in a back-to-work agreement between the two sides.

That agreement puts the workers back on the job this coming Monday.

At the same time the two sides still need to iron out a new contract. The union will be working under the terms of the contract that expired on April 15th.

Union president Mike Edelbrock says they are glad to be going back to work but there are still many issues to resolve before a deal is one.

One area that appears to be sensitive in nature is when the union workers go back to work Monday, the relationships between the former union members who crossed the picket line or any temporary workers hired to do union jobs.

No response Wednesday from the company on whether or not any progress was made during Wednesday's talks.
