Shawnee Community United Methodist Church hosting their 4th annual Hands for Haiti race early Saturday morning. Just after 8AM, with crisp cool air, hundreds of runners gathered for a half marathon and 5K run.
Proceeds from the event, including race entry fees, T-shirt sales, donations and pledges, will be used for humanitarian missions in Haiti. Since the first race back in 2009, Hands for Haiti has raised more than 30 thousand dollars, growing in size each year.
One by one runners crossed the line receiving a metal, knowing no matter what position they finished in, Saturday's efforts will benefit the third world country of Haiti.
