Lima Ohio -

Area residents and re-enactors gathered at Lima's Ft. Amanda Park to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of The War of 1812. With camps set up, re-enactors cooking over a fire and various informational stops, the event was a way to show the people the type of clothing and lifestyles people endured 200 years ago.

The actual fort at the park has since been torn down, but that didn't stop hundreds of people from touring the monument and Ft. Amanda site. For re-enactor Edward Hoffmeyer, Sunday's festivities were an important history lesson for today's younger generations.

Re-enactors and surrounding historical societies hope to hold another celebration in remembrance of The War of 1812, as the war lasted for more than one year.
