Members of the community and the orchestra were surprised by the board's decision, and he's received an outpouring of support. At the orchestra's first rehearsal, Beck thanked his musicians for their continued encouragement during a difficult time.
Members of the orchestra say it would be a loss to the community to not invite Crafton back. The musicians say Beck is not only a maestro, but a true friend. They have written letters to the board, making their case for beck.
The conductor says he has not heard back from the board as yet, but he thinks their meeting went well and he hopes to continue negotiations.
