Murder Suspect Waives Preliminary Hearing

Posted: Updated:

The case involving Lima's 5th homicide of the year sees the suspect waive his right to a preliminary hearing.

28 year old Antwan Secession signing the paper giving up his right to hear any evidence that would determine if there is probable cause that he committed this crime.

He is charged with the murder of 53 year old Gregory Stewart. Stewart was shot in the early hours of October 5th and died from his injuries several days later. The investigation at the crime scene leads authorities to the arrest of Secession at another location.

His attorney asked the judge for the possibility of house arrest and to lower the one million dollar bond. Magistrate Cheney said no to house arrest and as for the request of bond?

Magistrate David Cheney: "We have a death, we have a serious charge and we have the use of a weapon. All those things coupled with other matters on Mr. Secessions record warrant bond to stay in place as is."

The case has been bound over to Allen Common Pleas Court for trial pursuant to an indictment of a grand jury.
