The dedication ceremony took place for Sommer Center for Health and Fitness Education. The 14.7 million dollar project took ten years of planning and 15 months to complete. The building was named in honor of Jim Sommer, who donated the largest amount of money for the project. He comes from a long line of family members attending the university, including himself. While he was a student, he played basket ball and still holds a record for most rebounds. He says he wanted to help the university by giving them a work out center that they needed badly. The new work out equipment, basketball center, and in door track provide a place for students to grow as athletes and as individuals.
