It will be turning heads as it travels Lima roadways as it helps feed those in need. A new program announced on Wednesday coming out of Activate Allen County. It's a mobile fresh produce market.
It is a collaborative effort with the West Ohio Food Bank, the Lima Family YMCA, the Regional Transit Authority, and Apollo Career Center. The start-up of the project has been funded by grants and donations of materials, time, and labor. The goal is to promote healthy eating with fresh nutritional foods.
CEO of West Ohio Food Bank Gary Bright is not sure the exact date the bus will go mobile because they want to make sure they do it right the first time. He will be in Chicago next week getting a first hand look at how a mobile produce market is used in that community.
