With the grand opening Wednesday afternoon of the student commons at the University of Northwest Ohio, students now have a relaxed place to study in the new library or grab some lunch in their food court all under one roof.
However, the student commons is not the only new facility at the university in the past six years. As the student body has doubled, to a current enrollment of about 4,500 students, more facilities were needed.
Most recently they have added the motor sports racing complex and back in August, the soccer and softball field complex was completed. And in the same month the third phase of Racers Village dorms were finished.
This year also started out with the opening of the Ohio State Beauty Academy on Eastown Road.
Other recent additions include the first and second phases of the dorms, the addition of tennis courts and baseball fields in 2010, and an administration building in 2009.
