Ottawa residents will soon have the opportunity to vote on two levies, both regarding the fire department. Ottawa's village fire department is asking for a 1.1 mil levy over the next five years, which would generate approximately 93 thousand dollars. Fire Chief Dan Rieman points out that this is not a new levy, it' a renewal of the same levy passed five years ago. Money raised from the levy would go towards paying the firefighters more money and paying the men and women for their training.
Rieman also points out that a second levy will be on the ballot, but says that the levy is for Putnam County. The second levy would generate money to build a 100 foot aerial platform and purchase two heavy rescue trucks.
