LIMA, OHIO -

Two men accused of raping children sign waivers to delay their trials.

33 year old Travis Quinter appearing in Allen County Common Pleas Court for five counts of rape. Assistant Allen County Prosecutor Jana Emerick says three counts involve victims under the age of 13 and two counts involve victims under the age of 10. People who are convicted of raping a child under 10, face a maximum sentence of life without parole. Emerick says there are multiple victims in this case.

Quinter potentially faces rape charges in Auglaize and Mercer Counties as well. Because he signed a speedy trial waiver, Quinter's trial is now scheduled for January 28th.

During a separate pretrial, 41 year old Johnathan Byrd also appeared in Judge Richard Warren's courtroom on four counts of rape. Emerick says the victim was seven at the time of the alleged crimes. He too faces a sentence of life without parole if convicted.

Byrd also signed a speedy trial waiver. His trial is also scheduled for January 28th. However, Byrd's attorney asked that his competency be tested before then.
