With Special Guest Thompson Square
to Appear at 2013 Allen County Fair
The man who made the hit song "Long Black Train" famous is coming to the 2013 Allen County Fair, Lima, Ohio. Josh Turner, one of the most recognizable country artists will play the grandstand stage Sunday, August 18 at 8 pm. Since his numerous CMA, ACM and Grammy nominations, Turner has sold more than five million albums and garnered four number one hits, including three multi week chart toppers "Your Man", "Would You Go With Me" and "Why Don't We Just Dance".
We're excited to have Josh Turner at the Fair, said David F. Grimm, General Manager. His music will appeal to anyone who likes country music. What a voice, song writer and overall great showman. It will be an evening to remember".
Opening for Turner will be Thompson Square, the reigning CMA and ACM "Vocal Duo of the Year. The husband wife duo is tearing up the charts. Their #1 smash "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" was nominated for two 2012 Grammy Awards, including Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Vocal performance.
Grimm added, "To have a band like Thompson Square on the stage with Josh, makes the show even better. This will be a power packed evening of great music."
A Hannah, S.C. native, Turner has been songwriting and performing since he was a young child, and in support of music education, created The Josh Turner Scholarship Fund to assist students interested in pursuing a future in arts/music. As a high school student, he had very little access to music education, therefore realizes first-hand the importance of arts in the schools.
Celebrating one of his fastest-rising singles-to-date, "Time Is Love," Turner released his fifth studio album, Punching Bag on June 12, 2012 which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. The Associated Press says, "With Punching Bag, Turner once again proves he ranks among the most effective – and most hard-core country – performers of his generation." On August 27, 2012 he released a live album exclusively with Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Live Across America. The album was recorded at live shows from Lancaster, PA to Kansas City, MO and more.
