County Health Rankings for Ohio were released today. Allen County was ranked 35th out of Ohio's 88 counties. The biggest problem continues to be obesity, with activity increasing.
The number of people that struggle with obesity in Allen County has been steadily rising since 2005, despite the rise in activity from 2008 to 2009. Health officials say we are not the only area of the country with health problems.
Averesch says even though activity levels are up, people many not be eating right, which contributes to the local obesity problem.
Allen County Health Commissioner, Kathy Luhn, says there are more factors that play into the growing obesity rate than just how active a person is.
Luhn stresses the fact that its healthier to be overweight and active than both overweight and inactive.
The numbers also found the amount of children in poverty has been steadily increasing since 2008, which can affect the quality of health food children take in.
