"Parks for the People" is the catch phrase for the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District as they are gearing for election day.
The park district is asking for the community's continued support as their replacement levy is on the May 7th primary ballot. The three and a quarter mill levy will not generate any new millage and will be for a 10 year period providing financing from 2014 to 2023 to operate the park district.
The levy represents 80% of the districts entire operating and capital improvement budget. District Director Kevin Haver says that since the levy was last passed in 2003, many changes including an Ohio legislative action has reduced the revenue generated by the three and a quarter mill levy. This levy has been funding the parks since 1993.
If you would like a yard sign or have someone speak at a meeting to inform your group on the levy, just contact the park district office at 419-221-1232.
