A new federal grant is helping fund clean-up efforts for Blanchard River in Putnam County.
The $1.2 million dollar National Emergency Grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor and supported by the Putnam County Job and Family Service Center.
The purpose of the grant is to clean out the river of debris from last June's wind storm to prevent future flooding.
The grant will not only clean-up the river, but it also helps employee workers in Putnam County.
Once debris is cleaned out of the river, it will be put to good use.
This is the second grant Putnam County has received to clean Blanchard River.
