Dog attack on Riverwalk leaves one man seriously injured

A tragic situation on the downtown Lima Riverwalk near the YMCA. Police this morning responded to reports of  two large dogs trying to attack people. The dogs had earlier gone after a man on his lawnmower and chased another man back into his truck.  Before authorities could respond the dogs attacked a man on the Riverwalk near Elizabeth.   An eyewitness saw the man being attacked and threw rocks at the dog but was unable to stop them.   The dogs have  identified as a breed known as mastiff's.. The county dog warden put one of the dogs down on the scene with a gun shot.  The other was captured.

Your News Now is working the story.  It's unclear who the woman was who tried to save the man's life or who the dogs were registered to.  Its also not know whether the dogs were in violation of the city's vicious dog ordinance requiring muzzles and leases.
