Lima City Council discussed sign codes about 4 or 5 years ago, but the issue was tabled and no legislative action was ever taken.
Now the issue has resurfaced because of this sign on the side of the Met Block Building at North and Main Street.
Lima Mayor David Berger says this sign was not regulated because there is no sign ordinance on the books, but it was taken before the Design Review Board, which did okay it.
Berger says if council pursues the issue the administration will be a part of that discussion, but having nothing on the books is probably not a good thing.
The sign that sparked the discussion is this large St. Rita's advertisement on Rob Nelson's Met Block Building.
Nelson would like to put up more signage but he understands there must be some discussion and review of each request.
