The United States is full of many charitable people who give money to just about any cause at the drop of a hat.
In the wake of last Monday's bombing at the Boston marathon, and Wednesday's fertilizer plant explosion in Texas, there have been a number of so-called charities popping up that want to take your money to try and help these victims.
But you need to do your homework before paying out a single dollar to these causes.
Many of them are outright scams according to Neil Winget with the Better Business Bureau.
Winget says that so far the only charity that is official and legitimate is called the One Fund, Boston 2013, formed the day after the tragic events at the Boston Marathon by citizens of Massachusetts with the endorsement of the governor and Boston's mayor.
