Lima residents who are in the market for a new vehicle are among the greenest in the nation according to Cars.com.
Lima was the eighth spot on the list along with Washington D.C. and other cities on the west coast.
Joe Shaw of the Lima Auto Mall says it's simple why they've become so popular in the area, "they're cheaper to operate."
Shaw also says Lima is a large educational community and that may have played a part in it landing on the list. The most popular car he sells is the Malibu E-Assist, because its affordable for most people and partially runs on a battery to improve fuel economy.
This car also has no need to be plugged in because the battery gets recharged when the car is breaking or coasting.
