20 Findlay firefighter jobs, and station number four, hang in the balance as the city looks to cut spending and save $1.5 million. Mayor Lydia Mihalik has written city council to try to reverse some of the layoffs and keep the station open. Residents living in The Woods at Burberry housing subdivision, have come to appreciate the proximity of station number four.
Speaking with residents, many of them expressed concern for safety and frustration that station four was selected. Mayor Mihalik would like to lower the number of layoffs from 20 down to 11, but even that worries residents at The Woods at Burberry housing subdivision.
Findlay council is expected to address the mayor's request early in May.
