With all of the rain we've had recently, mosquitoes are starting to appear.
Mosquitoes can carry West Nile Virus and residents should take steps now to clear breeding areas from your property, like gutters and downspouts, birdbaths and ornamental ponds.
Kelly says West Nile can be deadly, in Allen county one person died of the disease last year.
This is also tick season.
A tick bite can cause diseases like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme Disease.
Kelly says you need to avoid woody leafy areas and make sure you wear clothing that covers exposed skin.
Kelly says because of state funding cuts, testing of mosquitoes and ticks for disease has been suspended.
