A select group of students at Lima City Schools Alternative Program were selected to design clay tiles capturing the history of Lima.
Ten students were chosen to tour the Allen County Museum and ArtSpace Lima to learn about Lima's history, then create the art tiles from what they learned. The tiles where first displayed at ArtSpace Lima, then were displayed at the Lima Public Library, and have now made a permanent home in the alternative wing at Lima City's South School.
Teachers for the Alternative Program say this was a great way for students to learn about Lima, while expressing creativity.
The experience was made possible by a 100 Steps Art Learning Grant funded through the Lima Community Foundation.
