This massive solar farm is generating lots of electricity, but not enough to run the entire city of Celina.
In fact it takes care of only about two percent of their electricity needs.
Celina mayor Jeff Hazel, who was not in office when the solar farm was first proposed, still believes renewable energies do have their place in the entire mix of things.
Hazel says the solar farm is more than just a green energy feel good kind of thing.
The Mercer Auglaize YMCA is planning a smaller solar farm in front of their location between Celina and St. Marys.
The project was on hold until Celina city council addressed procedures for having alternative energy projects mesh with their distribution system.
C.E.O. Allen Basket says it's something they've been working on for a while.
Basket anticipates solar energy could take care of up to 70 percent of their electrical needs.
