A Mercer County Sheriff's vehicle has been broken into with various items being stolen from it.
An unmarked detective car from the Sheriff's Office was having major repairs done to it at Zuma Automotive in Celina, where the theft occurred.
Items stolen from the car include a sheriff's office jacket, badge, bullet proof vest, shotgun and other items.
Sheriff Jeff Grey says it isn't required to remove all items from a vehicle before being repaired, but changes will be made to their procedures.
In the 12 years that Grey has been sheriff, something like this has never happened before.
The theft is still under investigation.
